In a statement here today, the Chief Minister said that as per her announcement made in the Secretariat recently, the bonus and ex-gratia were being given from 20 October to the staff of Tamilnadu Transport Corporations, Electricity Board, Tamilnadu Civil Supplies Corporation, Aavin and Poompuhar Shipping Corporation. By this the 13,720 employees of Tamilnadu Civil Supplies Corporations would get Rs 6.87 crore as bonus and ex-gratia, she said.
She also said the daily wage labourers of the Civil Supplies Corporation and its godowns were being given five per cent hike in wage (handling charge) which would come into effect immediately. It would cost the corporation Rs 65 lakh more per year, she pointed out.
And for labourers who die in harness, a compensation of Rs 65,000 each to their families through Employees Deposit Linked Insurance Scheme under Provident Fund had been mooted and its immediate implementation ordered. On the basis of this, so far 117 loaders, who died while in service, and to their families, orders had been issued to extend the compensation of Rs 65,000 each, totalling Rs. 76.05 lakh, with immediate effect. And also she had ordered to pay their gratuity according to their service at a cost of Rs 5.26 lakh.
To differentiate the service of the loading labourers of the corporation, different coloured identity cards were being issued. Those completing 10 years service would be made permanent and they would be extended other facilities, such as weekly holiday wage, three national holidays and three festival holidays wages, 10 days' medical leave per year, bonus and others.
