FARMINGTON — Three people were seriously injured after the car they were traveling in struck several objects, including a large rock, parked car and a home, shortly after midnight on Friday.
According to Fire Chief Richard Fowler, Marc Solari, 20, of Orange Street was driving his black Cadillac toward the downtown area when his vehicle hit a large rock, then a parked car and the corner of a gray house at 6 Spring St.
Fowler said the car was "teetering" on top of a 5-foot stone wall between Spring and Central streets. He added firefighters had to use a winch on one of the department's trucks to stabilize the vehicle in before they could assist the passengers.
"It was a pretty extensive extrication," Fowler said, adding the driver and two passengers were transported to the hospital for "serious, but not life-threatening injuries."
Lt. Kevin Willey said two teenage boys — ages 16 and 17 — were passengers in the car, but could not release their names because they are juveniles.
The house, located at the corner of Spring and Central streets, sustained damage to its foundation, exterior and interior walls, the frame, a window and the eaves above.
Stuart Pease, who is the son of the homeowner, said everyone inside the home was asleep when the car struck the corner outside of the kitchen. He added he expects the insurance company to send a representative quickly and discussed repairs with Richard Colbath, of Colbath Contractors, on Friday afternoon.
